The sales volume of chocolate bars manufactured in the UK remained flat in 2022. Production volume collapsed between 2008 and 2011 but has since rebounded to 79.6 million kilograms.
A stagnating market?
The corresponding developments in sales values give the same picture as above. In 2022, sales value of UK output amounted to 481 million British pounds. The sales price per kilogram of chocolate bar has stagnated in recent years while the average purchase volume by UK consumers has grown.
Chocolate bar types
Between 2020 and 2021, the average consumer ate 55 grams per week of solid chocolate and a further 56 grams of filled chocolate. The average expenditure per person per week on chocolate bars has overall gone up in the last decade for both types of products.
